Le groupe de production néerlandais Endemol va lancer un hub en Israël, dédié à développer et à produire des scénarios, rapporte le site Variety (article ci-dessous). Ce hub a vocation à investir dans des écrivains locaux, la formation de Showrunners et la découverte de talents. Israël est aujourd’hui reconnu sur la scène internationale comme créateur de contenu télévisuel de qualité. Endemol souhaite ainsi mettre les compétences de l’état hébreu à sa disposition.
L’Endemol Shine Studios Israel sera situé à Tel Aviv et sera dirigé par Gal Zaid, directeur des programmes drame et comédie. « Cela a été un travail de longue haleine d’établir un hub spécialisé dans les scénarios, ici, en Israël », confesse Elad Kuperman, le PDG d’Endemol Shine Israel. International Correspondent (Nick Vivarelli) : “Endemol Shine Group is launching a new hub dedicated to developing and producing scripted drama in Israel, where it will invest in local writers, showrunners and thesping talent, in a move that clearly aims to further capitalise on Israel’s status as a hot territory in the international scripted content arena. Based in Tel Aviv, Endemol Shine Studios Israel, will be led by Director of Drama and Comedy Gal Zaid, who will report to Endemol Shine Israel CEO Elad Kuperman.
“It has been our long held ambition to establish a world class scripted hub here in Israel,” said Kuperman in a statement. “Gal is responsible for some of Israel’s most successful drama and has worked with the best showrunners, writers and talent in the market,” he enthused.
“Israel has become recognised internationally for standout scripted programming that travels to markets all over the world. It’s a great time to launch Endemol Shine Studios Israel which will allow us to further invest in the incredible pool of local talent here and offer them a gateway to the international market,” added Gall.
Since joining Endemol Shine Israel in 2014 as Director of Drama and Comedy, Gal Zaid’s credits have comprised writing “The Orpheus Project” (pictured) for HOT, and producing, script editing and starring in “Miller Junction” for Keshet, the followup to hit series “Traffic Light,” which also sold to FOX in the U.S.
His former credits include script editing and starring in groundbreaking series “Prisoners of War” for Keshet, which was remade for Showtime in the U.S. as “Homeland.”
The new studios will draw from Endemol Shine Group’s global resources in scripted programming, creativity and distribution, in synergy with the group’s toppers in these areas, including Lars Blomgren Chairman, Scripted Exchange; Sharon Hall, President of Endemol Shine Studios in the USA; Cathy Payne, CEO of Endemol Shine International; Lisa Perrin, CEO of Creative Networks, and Peter Salmon, Chief Creative Officer at Endemol Shine Group, the statement said”.
